2015 Quick Review

Not sure where this year went but a lot went on with Pottery and other artistic avenues for us this year.
Its been a year already that Local Treasures has been open. The store moved to a bigger location at Whipple Tree Junction the end of August. Down by the parking lot at the entrance to the court yard.  A great move! The owner started with 7 artisan's and now there are over 50 of us in the store.
We now stock art supplies as well, and growing.

In spite of some personal and physical limitations this year we did keep a bit busy with activities and I had a lot of helpers. Whom I am very grateful too and thank very much!

One of my art cards became a wall poster 3ft by 5ft which I added colour to a black and white image with water colour. It was my 3 circle Mandela black and white ink drawing. It looks wonderful and my customer is very pleased.

My November and December were busy with craft fairs and this year I did 2 schools, 5 kids classes grades 4 to7. Taking decorations I made in the bisque state and having the kids paint them with acrylic metallic paints. This year I needed a volunteer to help. It was a great success!

The Clay Hub Collective had on going classes this year and work shops. I took a wonderful sculpture class that just took me to a new level with my pottery.  This experience  helped when I gave a Pumpkin Tea light workshop for Halloween.
This year I hope to do it again  early October and perhaps a Snowman tea light class in November 2016.
There are always up dates on the web site:  www.theclayhubcollective@weebly.com    For the locals check it out.  We have over 100 years experience at the Studio with all the instructors and volunteers put together. Amazing right!  The Clay Hub has just over one year under its belt as well.  We opened Oct 2014 I joined Feb 2015.

We will be at a couple of spots this spring.

Cowichan Valley Garden Fair 2016  April 30th  10am to 2pm  One day only
where:  Cowichan Exhibition Main Hall
Items:  Mostly planters, wheel thrown and hand built.  I will be making some Bonsai as well and garden art.

One week in May from 18 to 24 every day at the Duke Point Ferry Terminal, so if you are travelling come by and see us there!  A variety of pottery and some wood work and other items.
With these two advents I have also partnered up with another local Potter who's work leans towards nautical images. So there will be more to enjoy looking at and to chose from.
Until my next up date Cheers,  Tanis
